Teacher Resources

Teacher Resources

The Philadelphia Orchestra offers an array of resources to serve teachers planning to bring groups to one of our School Concerts.

Link Up

The Philadelphia Orchestra tailors its School Concerts to align with the interactive and engaging Link Up curriculum, developed by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute. This curriculum places a strong emphasis on student participation: the students learn to sing and play an instrument in the classroom and then perform with The Philadelphia Orchestra from their seats at a culminating School Concert in Verizon Hall.

For the 2018-19 season, The Philadelphia Orchestra presents Link Up: The Orchestra Sings. Carnegie Hall provides each teacher who brings a group to a School Concert with printed curriculum materials that will be mailed upon registration, digital resources, and optional student workbooks.

Teacher Workshops

The Philadelphia Orchestra’s free workshops prime teachers for the optimal experience in preparing students for School Concerts. At a workshop, teachers can deepen their understanding of the music to be performed at the concert, become acquainted with best practices for implementing the Link Up curriculum, and explore techniques for arts-integrated instruction more broadly.

Docent Program

Docent visits are free of charge and available to school groups who purchase 25 tickets or more. Request a docent presentation when ordering your tickets or by sending an e-mail to school_concerts@philorch.org.

PLEASE NOTE: Docent requests made less than four weeks before your scheduled concert may not be able to be accommodated.
