Yannick and the Orchestra provided music for the final Mass of Pope Francis’s visit to the United States on September 27, before an estimated crowd of 860,000 people on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Not only did they provide the liturgical music during the service, but they also performed a selection of works as a prelude and a postlude. They were joined by a 500-member Papal Choir, comprised of singers from throughout Philadelphia’s diverse communities, including an Expanded Archdiocesan Choir, a Black-Catholic Community choir, a Spanish choir, a Vietnamese choir, an Archdiocesan Children’s Choir, and an All-Catholic High School Choir.
