Jennifer Montone: A Young Woman with a Horn

It’s considered bad form to “toot one’s own horn” … unless of course that’s your job. And it’s a job that our principal horn, Jennifer Montone, performs exquisitely, as will be abundantly apparent to all those fortunate enough to be in Verizon Hall January 8, 9, or 10. With former Music Director Christoph Eschenbach on the podium, Jennifer will solo in Richard Strauss’s majestic Horn Concerto No. 1.

Bramwell Tovey—Our Man for the Season

If we didn’t know better, we’d say he’s Jolly Old St. Nick himself! The multi-talented Bramwell Tovey (a Grammy-winning conductor, composer, pianist, narrator) returns to Philadelphia to ensure we’re all getting into the holiday spirit.

Tovey is making his subscription debut, conducting a stunning set of concerts. He’s once again presenting the Glorious Sound of Christmas, he’ll lead our SingIN at the historic Grace Baptist Church of Germantown, and in his spare time, he’ll be dropping in at Shriner’s Hospital for Children to spread holiday cheer.

Orchestra Gives Thanks with Free Concert

It was a full house of fun at the Orchestra’s Free Concert for Giving Tuesday. Yannick and the Orchestra performed seasonal favorites along with other popular and varied pieces; some audience members got to “Conduct the PO”; while others joined the musicians onstage for a sleigh bell-fueled version of Sleigh Ride. Concertgoers also generously donated items for the Cradles to Crayons winter clothing drive organized by the Kimmel Center and its resident companies.
