Yannick Nézet-Séguin

Music Director 

Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will lead The Philadelphia Orchestra through at least the 2025-26 season, an extraordinary and significant long-term commitment. Additionally, he became the third music director in the history of the Metropolitan Opera, beginning with the 2018-19 season. This consolidates his professional activity around two of the world’s pre-eminent artistic organizations, concentrating and honing his musical future.

Stéphane Denève

Principal Guest Conductor

Stéphane Denève Stéphane Denève is currently in his sixth and final season as principal guest conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra. He spends multiple weeks each year with the ensemble, conducting subscription, tour, and summer concerts. His 2019–20 subscription season appearances include three weeks of concerts.

Erina Yashima

Assistant Conductor

German-born conductor Erina Yashima began her tenure as assistant conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra in September 2019. In this role she will assist Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin as well as guest conductors, and lead The Philadelphia Orchestra in educational and special concerts.

Lina Gonzalez-Granados began her tenure as conducting fellow of The Philadelphia Orchestra with the 2019–20 season. She has firmly established herself as a talented conductor of opera, classical, and contemporary music.

Composer-in-Residence

Currently serving as composer-in-residence with The Philadelphia Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin and included in the Washington Post's list of the 35 most significant women composers in history (August 2017), composer/pianist Gabriela Lena Frank has always placed identity at the center of her music.

David Kim

Concertmaster

Violinist David Kim was named concertmaster of The Philadelphia Orchestra in 1999. Born in Carbondale, IL, in 1963, he started playing the violin at the age of three, began studies with the famed pedagogue Dorothy DeLay at the age of eight, and later received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Juilliard School.

Matías Tarnopolsky

President and CEO

Matías Tarnopolsky began his role as president and chief executive officer of The Philadelphia Orchestra Association in August 2018. During the first year of his tenure, the Orchestra received the largest gift in its history, launched a visionary free ticket program for the School District of Philadelphia, strengthened the historic and deep ties with China through new partnerships, and negotiated an extraordinary early contract with the musicians of the Orchestra.
